Railroad Square {Sonoma County Family & Child Photographer}

I met the A family in downtown Santa Rosa for some portraits at Railroad Square. Photos on train tracks usually make me very uncomfortable, given that where I live 40+ trains come every day. But Santa Rosa’s tracks aren’t in use and make a great photo backdrop, especially for a little boy. And his adorable outfit could not have been more perfect for this day.

I adore these pictures in the window… so timeless and he was posing like a pro.

Say what??!

The classic daddy throwing the child pose. Daddy’s love it, Mommy’s get so nervous. For the record, it’s NEVER my idea!  ; )

Sisters {Hanford Children’s Portraits}

A & C’s mom wanted some updated pictures of her girls and to document their adorable Christmas dresses. Unfortunately, C is a toddler now and wasn’t very interested in pictures. So we started with A… isn’t she darling?

We pretty much had the park to ourselves and, for January, the weather was lovely! However, with all the grass and trees and pretty places to place, C only wanted to play in the parking lot. In front of this less-than-picturesque dumpster. But, hey! I’ve been doing this long enough to know that location doesn’t always matter. If I hadn’t posted these together, would you ever have thought the photo on the right was taken in a grungy parking lot?  : )  Sometimes you just gotta go with it, especially with toddlers.

With a few minutes of patience, she decided the pretty park was fun afterall.

And as soon as we suggested going somewhere else, C was all about sitting on the bench (where we tried originally and she wasn’t having it). Ahh… toddlers!

And I saved my favorite for last… I love this candid shot from near the end of our session. C was having so much fun jumping (with her big sister’s help). LOVE this photo and the expressions on both girls’ faces.

Local Autumn Color {Hanford Nature Photographer}

Here’s my local version of my I love Autumn, I love Autumn post of Wine Country photos. The Central Valley has plenty of beautiful color to give those vineyards a run for their money.  ; )

And last but not least, some of the beautiful oranges and yellows from a local walnut orchard. Hopefully our house will be done and we will be living in one of these orchards next Autumn! Woohoo!

More Family Photos {Hanford Family Photographer}

I love this time of year. I love the colors and I love the focus on getting family portraits taken. For holiday cards, for gifts, or just to preserve this moment in your family’s timeline, I love every reason to get y’all in front of my camera this time of year.  :)

It was extra fun to see this family, since Andrew was one of my tiniest newborns ever (that photo where he’s pretending to be asleep in the basket it one of my favorites of all time!). It’s amazing to see how much he has grown in nine short months! He’s such a happy, smiley baby – made my job VERY easy!

I love Autumn, I love Autumn

Autumn is my favorite time of the year. And Autumn in the Wine Country is a photographer’s dream. While we were visiting last weekend, we left our kids with their Grama & Grampa and spent a dreamy afternoon driving around Calistoga, St. Helena, Windsor, and Healdsburg. Here are some of my favorite pictures of one of my favorite places during my favorite time of the year.

Very minimal editing on these pictures – this is their true color. Amazing.

I nearly blinded myself taking this picture, but I love how it turned out, so I guess I won’t complain (too much).  ;)

And on the way home, we even stopped in for a tasting at Chalk Hill. Almost as delicious as the beautiful colors in the vineyards.

Hat {Weekly Photo Challenge} & Air Show Photos

This week’s photo challenge word was “hat.” I took this photo at the Air Show in Lemoore, CA.

And, just for fun, here are some of the other images I took while at the show.

I have been honored to photograph a few Navy homecomings here in Lemoore, but no matter how often I am there, it’s still so amazing to see our military jets flying. The speed, skill, and wonder of it all is not lost on me. I still get chills of excitement hearing that roar and seeing the power of our military up close. It’s awesome to live so near a Navy base!

It was a long, hot, humid day, but seeing the Blue Angels made it very worthwhile! So amazing to watch their skill up close and hear the roar of those planes flying overhead!
