Train Lover {Kings County Child Photographer}

J just turned three and loves trains. When his mama asked about taking pictures on the tracks, I have to admit I was very nervous. We get a lot of trains in Kings County! But… I scouted out and found a set of tracks that is not active, so we had the scenery without the safety hazard. And it’s always so inspiring to shoot in a new location!

This was my first photo of the day… he was totally into taking pictures and we had so much fun.

Little hands – and he folded them together on his own (no direction from me). Adorable!

I looove this last one. I started calling him by his sister’s name and he just laughed and laughed. What a cutie pie!

Baby C {Hanford Newborn Photography}

We have three sets of friends who welcomed baby boys during December. Here is the first newborn in my “baby boy marathon.” Meet Baby C and his big brother L (you may recognize him from their family photos a few weeks ago!). They are only two years apart and I have a feeling they are going to be fast friends.

The S Family {Hanford & Lemoore Family Portrait Photographer}

I met this cute family early this week for some portraits downtown. I have to admit, when they first contacted me about picture of twin 2-year-old boys and an infant baby sister, I was a little nervous. Two-year-olds are so fun to photograph, but not always the easiest in terms of getting them to hold still. And… 2-year-old twin boys? I knew I’d need my running shoes for this session! Turns out they were very smiley and well behaved (in a fast-moving kind of way that only a 2-year-old understands). Here are some of my favorite shots of the 60 “keepers” from our portrait session.

The C Family {Hanford Lemoore Maternity & Family Portraits}

The C family is just a few weeks away from welcoming baby boy #2. I was thrilled when they asked me to take maternity and family pictures – even more so when they agreed to take my own family pictures in trade (more on that coming soon!). We met at our new house and took photos in the walnut orchards just before sunset. And the best part? It was fun! Family pictures shouldn’t be a miserable afternoon – it’s nice to have a fond memory to go with the images that preserve this moment in your family history.

I loooove the expression on little L’s face in this next one. He’s just stinkin’ adorable and I can’t wait to see him as a big brother.

A has a very cute pregnant bump and I’ve loved watching her grow over the last few months. I also made a quilt for the new baby, which you can check out here on my sewing blog. I hope this baby has lots of wonderful dreams under the quilt I made him!

The A Family {Sonoma County Family & Maternity Photography}

The A family has a new baby on the way and I was happy to document their pregnancy last weekend in Santa Rosa.

I’m pretty sure this guy is going to be a great big brother!

At four years old, he is equal parts sweet and totally silly. It was fun to watch and photograph the many faces and expressions he was giving me. Luckily there were lots of smiles in there, too!

The K Family {Sonoma & Kings County Family Photographer}

Amanda and I have been friends since elementary school. It was so nice to see her and spend a few minutes catching up last time I was visiting Sonoma County. I love Sonoma County sessions for a number of reasons. First, it’s typically people I know, so it’s always fun to see old friends / clients. Second, there are so many great “wine country” locations to choose from and I get so inspired in new locations.

Also inspiring? Two faces as cute as these little guys.

Some Images from the Coast {Sonoma County Nature Photography}

I almost forgot to share these! Last month, my husband and I were lucky enough to have a night alone at the beach. My parents took our little ones and we snuck away to Bodega Bay for dinner, some cold fog (a VERY welcome treat after a long Summer in the Valley), and a lovely little getaway. It was too foggy for any of the beach photos I had planned, but I did get some quality time with my camera and these beautiful purple flowers outside of our hotel room.

Oh the dewey goodness! I love my macro lens.

After brunch (oh yes, it was “brunch” because without our little ones, we actually slept in… so wonderful!), we made friends with this guy – a pelican who had put on quite a show for us during our meal.

Thank you to my parents for taking good care of our children, thank you to our children for being easy travelers who sleep well no matter where they are, and thank you to the coast for having cool weather and allowing me to wear a sweatshirt for the first time in a very long time!

Baby Emery {Sonoma County Newborn Photographer}

Little Emery was about 2 months old when we got together for his photos. And oh my! He’s adorable! I had so much fun taking his photos and then getting to continue to swoon over him while I edited. Here are a few of my favorites from the 85 pictures that his parents will have to choose from!

His mom is crafty and made the blanket and owl we used in many of the photos. His nursery had lots of handmade and sentimental items – I loved it and felt right at home. : )

We tried for the daddy-holding-baby pose and Emery was instantly offended. This wasn’t exactly the image we were aiming for, but I love it nonetheless. I’m sorry, buddy!

Luckily he doesn’t hold grudges very long…

Swooooooon. Now you may be understanding why I enjoyed editing these photos so much. Look at that face!

We also took a few minutes to grab some family-of-three photos with his parents, who obviously adore him.

And with that, he was exhausted. I can’t say I blame him.
