They’re Home {Lemoore Portrait & Event Photography}

I was lucky enough to photograph another Navy homecoming in February. I cannot express how amazing it is to be out there and see these families be reunited. This day, four squadrons came home after seven months of deployment.

The first three arrivals gave me a chance to get emotionally prepared. I cry every time, and this day was no different. It’s very difficult to not get overcome with emotions seeing these reunions.

I loved all the personal touches the wives created to welcome back their pilots. The personalized beers were perfect.

Here they come!

The squadrons fly in as a group and go right over the hanger where their loved ones anxiously wait for them. Then they split into smaller groups and land.

The family I photographed consisted of three very excited little ones who obviously missed their Daddy. Their excitement was adorable as they spotted their dad and then saw him wave to them.

Once all twelve land, they exit together and walk in as a group carrying red roses for their ladies.

The families stand back as long as they can and then they run to each other. It’s the closest I’ve ever been to photographing pure joy.

Little L was so cute when she saw her Daddy. For the rest of the time I was there, she barely took her eyes off of him. She was positively star stuck. Adorable.

And one last shot from the day… I love that they have In-n-Out there for the pilots to enjoy! After seven months away, I’d say they earned it!  : )

Welcome home! THANK YOU so much for allowing me to capture the day for you.

Hat {Weekly Photo Challenge} & Air Show Photos

This week’s photo challenge word was “hat.” I took this photo at the Air Show in Lemoore, CA.

And, just for fun, here are some of the other images I took while at the show.

I have been honored to photograph a few Navy homecomings here in Lemoore, but no matter how often I am there, it’s still so amazing to see our military jets flying. The speed, skill, and wonder of it all is not lost on me. I still get chills of excitement hearing that roar and seeing the power of our military up close. It’s awesome to live so near a Navy base!

It was a long, hot, humid day, but seeing the Blue Angels made it very worthwhile! So amazing to watch their skill up close and hear the roar of those planes flying overhead!

Thank you to the organizers of the air show – it was a great day!

217 Days (Lemoore Portrait & Event Photography}

On Wednesday, I was honored to photograph a Navy Homecoming in Lemoore. This family has been separated for 217 days. Two-hundred-and-seventeen days. That is many, many, many days that Daddy has not seen his girls, kissed their faces, or tucked them into bed at night.

The days consisted of two homecomings – here’s a shot of the first squadron to come in. They flew in formation right over the hanger we were in, giving me goosebumps and chills and tears, all in an instant.

A group shot of some of the wives waiting for their pilots to return home safely.

And the face of a one-year-old who hasn’t been with her daddy in 217 days….

… and a 5-year-old very anxiously awaiting the next group of planes to arrive.

Here they come!

I was told that the pilot we were waiting for was in the plane on the bottom right-side.

Once they all landed, they walked in together, carrying red roses. I dare you to stand there watching this scene without feeling pride for our red, white, and blue.  ; )

Once they got close, the families and pilots all take off running towards each other…

Happy little girl!

To say I am honored and thankful is an immense understatement. Thank you Tritz family for your service, your sacrifice, and for allowing me to share this day with you.

A Military Homecoming : : Lemoore Portrait & Event Photography

I had the amazing opportunity and honor to photograph a homecoming at Lemoore Naval Air Station this week. The Thomas family has been apart since last July and it was so amazing to be a witness to their reunion.

The children waiting for the planes to arrive…

Someone brought a bubble machine, which was a great entertainment and distraction for children who were wildly eager to see their mothers or fathers who have been gone so long.

This is Ariel – isn’t she adorable? She’s almost two-years-old and was anxious to see da-da (love the shirt!).

Waiting for those airplanes…….

Here they come!

This was seriously an amazing experience and I would love the opportunity to photograph more homecomings. Thank you to the Thomas family for inviting me to capture this amazing day for you. Welcome home, Jeff – and thank you!
